Princess Phachrakitiyapa's 50‑Day Merit‑Making Ceremony Held by Thai Parliament and Government

The House of Representatives and the Senate jointly organized a 50‑day merit‑making ceremony (panja samwan) to honor Princess Phachrakitiyapa. The event included the lighting of incense and candles, the offering of small gold items, and a communal alms‑giving before a Buddha image, with ten senior monks presiding over the rites.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul chaired the government‑led portion of the ceremony, accompanied by cabinet members, senior civil servants and officials from the Prime Minister’s Office. The participants presented traditional Thai offerings and a ceremonial cloth, and together with the monks performed a brief meditation and chanting. The ceremony took place on the grounds of the Government House, near the Chao Phraya River, and was intended to express loyalty to the royal family and uphold Buddhist traditions.
