Princess Sofia inaugurates accessible hiking trail in Dalarna
Princess Sofia of Sweden inaugurated a new accessibility-adapted hiking trail in Fulufjället National Park, located in the Dalarna region. The project, which has been in development for ten years, aims to allow hikers and individuals with reduced mobility to reach the Njupeskär waterfall.
During the event, the Princess participated in the final steps of the installation by securing a railing. She noted that while improvements had been made since her last visit in 2019, certain sections previously remained difficult to navigate; now, the path is fully accessible.
Helena Höij, the Governor of Dalarna, highlighted the Princess’s strong personal connection to the Älvdalen area, where she spent much of her childhood. The visit saw significant local engagement from residents of all ages.
