Princeton NuEnergy to build Georgia battery-recycling facility

Princeton NuEnergy Inc. (PNE) has been selected to enter negotiations for a $50 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to support a new battery-recycling facility in Commerce, Georgia.

The $110 million project will utilize the company’s proprietary low-temperature plasma-assisted separation (LPAS) technology to establish a 3,000 tons-per-year closed-loop facility. The plant is designed to process nickel-based lithium-ion battery manufacturing scrap, recovering and rejuvenating cathode active material for reuse in battery production.

The initiative is expected to create approximately 70 full-time manufacturing jobs and 100 construction jobs, aiming to strengthen the domestic battery-material supply chain.
