Cardiff emerges as potential venue for Fury-Joshua heavyweight fight

Negotiations for a heavyweight bout between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are progressing, with Cardiff’s Principality Stadium emerging as a leading venue candidate. The fight, which has faced delays due to disagreements over location, is being considered for either late November or December 2026.

While promoters and broadcaster Netflix previously favored Madison Square Garden in New York to capture American prime-time audiences, Joshua’s camp has insisted on a UK location. Principality Stadium is currently a frontrunner because its retractable roof can accommodate late-night schedules and weather concerns, unlike Wembley Stadium. However, hosting the event in Cardiff would require a special exemption to lift the current 10:30 PM curfew, as Netflix desires a ring walk around 2:00 AM to suit US broadcasting slots.

Fury’s manager, Spencer Brown, expressed high confidence that the agreement is nearing completion, noting that Fury is willing to fight in any location. The potential late-night schedule has raised concerns regarding local logistics, including public transport availability and hotel capacity in Cardiff for the expected large crowd.
