Principality Stadium emerges as venue option for Joshua vs. Fury

Principality Stadium in Cardiff has emerged as a potential venue for the heavyweight boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. The venue is being considered because its retractable roof can mitigate weather issues and, unlike Wembley Stadium, it may be able to accommodate the late start times requested by broadcaster Netflix to maximize American viewership.

The proposed fight could take place on a Friday night, potentially on December 4 or December 11, to suit the US market. However, this scheduling has raised concerns regarding the impact on British fans, as a main event starting around 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. would result in spectators leaving the stadium in the early hours of Saturday morning when public transportation is limited.

The matchup has faced previous complications due to contractual stipulations requiring the fight to be held on British soil, which led to resistance against attempts to move the event to Madison Square Garden in New York.
