Prinsjesdag in The Hague marks start of parliamentary year

Prinsjesdag, the opening of the Dutch parliamentary year, is scheduled for Tuesday in The Hague. The event features King Willem-Alexander delivering the throne speech and the government presenting its upcoming plans.

A significant highlight for the public is the expected appearance of the entire royal family. This marks only the second time that all three princesses—Amalia, Alexia, and Ariane—will participate together, as attendance is traditionally permitted only after reaching adulthood.

Due to the large crowds expected for the ceremonial carriage procession, public transportation in The Hague is facing significant disruptions. Changes to tram and bus routes, including diversions for lines 1, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 24, and 28, have been implemented to accommodate rehearsals and the main event.
