Printing industry trends show diversification and new installer training

The printing industry is seeing a significant trend toward diversification, according to the ‘State of the Industry Report 2026’ produced by Alliance Insights and sponsored by Canon U.S.A. Data indicates that over 75% of participants have expanded beyond their primary offerings. Key growth areas include wide-format printing, packaging, promotional products, and apparel, as print service providers seek to become comprehensive solutions partners.

In a related development for industry infrastructure, PRINTING United Alliance has appointed Installation United to manage its installer training and certification program. Installation United will administer the Professional Decal Application Alliance (PDAA) program, launching training at a new academy in Hyattsville, Maryland. This facility is intended to be the first in a planned national network of academies designed to provide standardized, hands-on training for commercial graphic, sign, and wallcovering installers.
