Printometer platform launches to give German printers real‑time ink‑use data

Berlin‑based XIOSYS UG has introduced Printometer, a SaaS service that automatically collects accounting logs from production printers of any brand, archives the data and calculates the exact ink consumption per job, material and square metre. The system captures usage down to the microlitre, solving the industry problem where device buffers erase data after a few weeks. The first beta customer is Typographus GmbH and a waiting list is now open.

Printometer aims to help high‑volume users such as schools cut printing costs. Industry experts advise that schools should compare the per‑page cost rather than cartridge price and consider compatible or rebuilt toners, which can reduce expenses by 20‑50 %. High colour‑toner usage and original cartridges from manufacturers like HP, Brother or Kyocera drive up budgets. By providing accurate consumption data, Printometer enables organisations to identify savings opportunities and move from estimated to measured costs.
