Prishtina considers vehicle entry fees for central zone

The Municipality of Prishtina is considering a new regulation that would impose entry fees for vehicles entering the city's central zone. The proposed tariff includes 2 euros for cars and 10 euros for trucks, covering an area of 11 specific streets.

The proposal has met with opposition from local political figures and civil society. Besart Krasniqi, an assembly member from the Vetëvendosje movement, argued that the city's road infrastructure is currently in poor condition and that the fees would place an undue financial burden on residents. Similarly, Bekim Salihu from the GAP Institute suggested that instead of a simple entry tax, the municipality should consider alternative taxation models based on specific zones or more effective traffic reduction strategies.
