Prishtina expands pre-school education amid water quality concerns

Prishtina is expanding its pre-school education services for the upcoming academic year by adding four new schools: ‘Mehmet Gjevori’, ‘Afrim Gashi’, a school in Vranidoll, and ‘Asim Vokshi’. Education Director Arianit Elshani stated that preparations are nearly complete, including technical and pedagogical material supplies. New regulations have been implemented to limit class sizes to 30 students and restrict registration to students from the municipality.

Simultaneously, concerns have been raised regarding drinking water quality at ‘Pavarësia’ school. While the school director, Halil Brahaj, noted unofficial reports of increased manganese levels, KRU Prishtina spokesperson Arjeta Mjeku stated there has been no official notification from the water company or the National Institute of Public Health regarding water unsuitability. The school has requested measures to ensure safe water for students, citing similar issues in previous years.
