Kosovo protestors demand legal changes following Special Court rulings

Thousands of citizens in Kosovo, organized under the 'Jo në emrin tim' initiative, have been conducting nightly protests in Prishtina and other municipalities. The demonstrations aim to oppose the sentencing of four former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders by the Special Court.

Protestors are presenting two primary demands to the government: amending the law governing the Specialist Chambers in The Hague and securing a dedicated budget to support the legal defense of Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli, and Rexhep Selimi. Additionally, veterans are calling for the judicial process to be transferred to the Supreme Court of Kosovo following the conclusion of the Appeal stage.

Activists have staged actions in front of the Ministry of Justice, claiming that legislation intended to protect the KLA is being stalled by the Ministries of Justice and Finance. Organizers have urged the government to proceed with these legal amendments to avoid further political instability.
