Prison escapee recaptured at Natal bus terminal

Cleiton Raimundo dos Santos, one of seven inmates who escaped from the Nova Cruz Public Jail on September 28, 2026, has been recaptured by the Military Police in Natal. The arrest took place at a local bus terminal following an anonymous tip suggesting the suspect intended to travel to another state.

During the approach, officers discovered the man was using a false identity. After verifying his information through public security systems, police confirmed his identity and the active arrest warrant. He has been returned to the penitentiary system. Two of the seven original escapees have now been recaptured, while five remain at large.
