Prison guard assaulted at Don Bosco prison in Pisa
A prison guard was assaulted at the Don Bosco prison in Pisa, Italy. According to the Sappe union, the officer was performing routine duties to escort a detainee to the infirmary when the detainant, in a state of agitation, physically obstructed the officer, causing her to strike a metal door and subsequently pushing her. General surveillance was required to restore order.
In response to the incident, Sappe national secretary Francesco Oliviero expressed solidarity with the officer and highlighted structural issues within the penitentiary system. The union is calling for increased staffing, improved service organization, and concrete measures to manage aggressive behavior and ensure the safety of personnel.
