Paraguayan Ministry of Health dismisses officials over fuel irregularities
The Ministry of Health in Paraguay has terminated the contracts of two workers in the Itapúa region following the discovery of significant irregularities regarding fuel usage for ambulances. According to Resolution No. 279/2026, administrative audits revealed major discrepancies between reported mileage and actual vehicle readings.
In one instance involving a Toyota Land Cruiser, reported travel was 38,189 kilometers, while physical inspections showed only 11,646 kilometers. A second vehicle, an Iveco, showed a discrepancy of 27,622 kilometers. Authorities have filed a formal complaint with the Public Ministry to investigate whether the fuel was diverted for unauthorized purposes, such as fueling private vehicles.
