Poland social updates: ZUS warnings and disability support funds
Various social and administrative developments are occurring across Poland, focusing on elderly care, disability support, and institutional warnings.
ZUS has issued warnings regarding fraudulent practices where third-party intermediaries attempt to charge fees for assistance with disability support benefits. Officials emphasize that all formalities can be completed free of charge through ZUS employees. Additionally, the NSZZ Prison Service and Prison Employees Union clarified that Polish Brokers Group is the only authorized broker for their group insurance, following reports of misinformation by other entities.
Significant funding is being directed toward disability support. The State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled People (PFRON) announced a 400 million PLN fund for NGOs to support independence and labor market integration. Furthermore, a new pilot program aims to implement supported employment models to help people with disabilities enter the workforce.
Local community news includes the establishment of the Senior Council in Żukowo and new home care programs in Gmina Wysokie. On a criminal note, a theft of 30,000 PLN from a deceased woman's home in Prochowicach led to the arrest of a neighbor. Meanwhile, police and municipal guards are conducting safety briefings for seniors to prevent fraud and ensure road safety.
