Prisoners escape Jujuy facility and are recaptured in Bolivia
Two detainees escaped from the Gendarmería Nacional Escuadrón N° 21 in Jujuy, Argentina, by squeezing through a narrow gap in a cell door. Security footage showed one inmate using a white substance, possibly soap or detergent, to lubricate his body to facilitate the escape.
Following the incident, Argentine and Bolivian security forces coordinated a search operation. The fugitives successfully crossed the border into Villazón, Bolivia, but were intercepted and recaptured by the Unidad Policial de Acción y Reacción (UPAR Delta) in the city center approximately ten hours after their escape.
