Prisoners receive sentences for assaults on fellow inmates
Two separate incidents involving assaults on inmates within correctional facilities have resulted in prison sentences.
In the United Kingdom, Christopher Scott was sentenced to life imprisonment at Nottingham Crown Court following an attack at HMP Lowdham Grange. Scott, 46, used an improvised blade to cause grievous bodily harm to another inmate, resulting in substantial wounds to the victim's face and neck. He must serve a minimum of 15 years before becoming eligible for parole.
In the United States, 20-year-old Amarion Michael Michaux was sentenced by the Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court to three to eight years in prison. Michaux pleaded guilty to aggravated assault for an incident at Westmoreland County Prison where he used a whip-like object made from jewelry and electronics to strike an inmate. The sentence runs concurrently with a term for a 2024 shooting incident in New Kensington.
