Prisque Michelle Nsembani wins Congo's MT180 science competition

Prisque Michelle Nsembani, a chemistry doctoral candidate at Marien-Ngouabi University, has won the third national edition of the “Ma thèse en 180 secondes” (My Thesis in 180 Seconds) competition in the Republic of Congo. Nsembani will represent the country at the international final of the science communication contest.

Her winning research focuses on the valorization of biomolecules found in Congolese oilseeds to combat dermatoses, or skin diseases. The goal of her work is to bridge the gap between laboratory science and public health by utilizing local medicinal plants to treat various ailments.

The competition, organized by the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) in partnership with Marien-Ngouabi University and the National Agency for the Valorization of Research Results and Innovation, featured thirteen candidates. The jury, chaired by Professor David Mampouya, evaluated participants based on speaking talent, scientific popularization, and presentation structure.
