Pristina holds ‘March for Freedom’ to support former KLA leaders

Tens of thousands of people gathered in Pristina for the ‘March for Freedom’, organized by the platform ‘Freedom Has a Name’. The demonstration was held in support of former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, and Jakup Krasniqi, who are currently facing war crimes and crimes against humanity charges before the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.

Organizers estimated that approximately 100,000 citizens participated in the march. Protesters carried portraits of the four leaders and displayed banners with messages such as ‘Bring the liberators home’ and ‘In the name of the people, declare them innocent’. The event took place just days before the final verdict is expected to be announced on September 16.

Political figures, including DUI leader Ali Ahmeti and PDK deputy Vlora Çitaku, were present. PDK leader Bedri Hamza addressed the crowd, urging the judges in The Hague to consider the consequences of their decision on the families of martyrs and war veterans.
