Perparim Rama halts BIRN agreement over Grand Hotel space amid accusations of revenge against Reporting House

Mayor Perparim Rama announced that the Pristina municipality has terminated its agreement with BIRN Kosova to use public space at the Grand Hotel. Rama said the decision was driven by unresolved transparency issues surrounding the “Lule Gjeli” case, stating that public spaces belong to citizens and should not be used by organisations that undermine public trust.

Jeta Xharra, director of the news portal Kallxo.com, accused Rama of retaliation because the outlet published 13 “Krypometra” articles exposing false content from the pseudonymous “Lule Gjeli” profile. She argued that the museum “Reporting House”, which has welcomed more than 23 000 visitors – half of them schoolchildren – is an important educational institution and should not be penalised for matters unrelated to its operation. Xharra said the municipal notice did not mention the reporting issues, attributing the delay to project dynamics.

Rama warned that further agreements with BIRN and other organisations would be reviewed, reiterating that public assets must serve the public interest and be managed with full transparency.
