Pritam Singh struck off legal rolls following parliamentary lying conviction
Pritam Singh, Secretary-General of the Workers’ Party and Member of Parliament for Aljunied GRC, has been struck off the rolls of advocates and solicitors. The decision was handed down on August 13 by the Court of Three Judges, Singapore’s highest disciplinary body for the legal profession.
The ruling follows Singh’s conviction on two counts of lying under oath to the Committee of Privileges. These offences were related to false statements made regarding a 2021 incident involving former WP MP Raeesah Khan. Both the Law Society of Singapore and Singh’s legal team agreed that the high threshold required to avoid being struck off was not met, acknowledging that dishonesty was an integral element of the offences.
The panel of judges included Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon, Justice Kannan Ramesh, and Justice See Kee Oon. Singh had previously lost an appeal against his conviction and paid a $14,000 fine in December 2025.
