Pritzker and Bailey debate agricultural issues at Illinois forum

Incumbent Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Republican challenger Darren Bailey participated in a candidate forum hosted by the Illinois Agricultural Legislative Roundtable on Monday. The event, held on a farm south of Bloomington, focused on agricultural issues and the candidates' ability to represent the farming community.

Bailey, a former state lawmaker and farmer, argued that he possesses a deeper understanding of the challenges facing the industry and pledged to serve as a “spokesman” for farmers. Pritzker countered by citing his governing record and economic development achievements, questioning Bailey’s legislative history regarding agricultural support.

Both candidates expressed agreement on the need for Illinois to reform the state's estate tax.
