Privacy risks in Gmail forwarding and AI photo processing
Users face potential privacy risks regarding how personal data is handled by email services and artificial intelligence tools.
In Gmail, an automatic forwarding feature allows incoming emails to be sent to another address. While intended for multi-account management, unauthorized access to an account can allow a third party to configure this setting or create specific filters. This could enable attackers to intercept sensitive information, such as bank statements or purchase confirmations, without the user's immediate knowledge.
Similarly, uploading personal photos to AI chatbots poses security concerns. When images are sent to AI servers, they may be stored for history synchronization, analyzed by computer vision systems, or used to train future models. These files can also contain metadata, such as timestamps and location coordinates, or reveal identifiable details like uniforms and badges, which could be exploited for identity theft or scams.
