Private clinics lack control over doctor copayments, says ANDECLIP

The National Association of Private Clinics (ANDECLIP) stated that private clinics lack control over the additional copayments or differential fees charged by doctors to insured patients.

Carlos Alcántara, the new president of ANDECLIP, explained that while the association can suggest that physicians moderate their fees, they do not have the authority to sanction doctors for these charges. Alcántara noted that in some instances, these additional costs have become excessive.

He clarified that the power to discipline and sanction medical professionals rests with the disciplinary council of the Dominican Medical College (CMD). Patients with well-founded complaints regarding medical fees should direct them to that professional guild.
