Private Companies Fund Conservation Congress in Cusco, Peru

Regional natural resources manager José Mancilla said private‑sector contributions are enabling key conservation actions in the Cusco region, including funding for monitoring, hiring park rangers and covering logistical needs. The support comes from several firms, notably the Antapaccay mining company.

The financing will also back the National Conservation Congress, scheduled for 6‑9 September in Cusco, which will bring together representatives from more than 25 Peruvian regions. Organizers aim to promote policies that link environmental protection with community development, allowing local populations to benefit economically while preserving natural areas.
