Private sector scholarship programs expand in Montenegro and Serbia

Educational scholarship programs are being expanded through partnerships between academic institutions and private companies in Montenegro and Serbia.

In Montenegro, the University of Montenegro has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Porta Aperta d.o.o. and PUOOO Porta Aperta. As part of the “Scholarships for the Best, Jobs with the Best” program, top students from the Faculty of Philology will receive monthly stipends of 300 euros for ten months. The initiative aims to provide professional training and employment opportunities, emphasizing the value of language and translation skills in a changing technological landscape.

In Serbia, the company Serbia Zijin Copper is continuing its annual scholarship program for the Bor District. For the fifth consecutive year, 100 of the most successful high school students from Bor, Majdanpek, Negotin, and Kladovo will receive a one-time scholarship of 700 dollars. The company reported that since 2022, it has awarded 400 scholarships totaling 280,000 dollars. The program seeks to support higher education and skill development, with plans to potentially expand through exchanges with China.
