Prix des Amériques insulaires announces 2026 finalists from Haiti, Cuba and Peru

The Prix des Amériques insulaires, a literary prize created in 2000 by Maryse Condé and Amédée Huyghues Despointes to promote Caribbean and American literature, has revealed its three finalists for the 2026 edition. Haitian author Kettly Mars is shortlisted with her novel "Je ne te trouverai pas deux fois dans ce même corps," Cuban writer Elaine Vilar Madruga with "Le ventre de la jungle," and Peruvian novelist Gabriela Wiener with "Portrait Huaco." The jury, chaired by Raphaël Confiant and including Sandra Araminthe, Julien Delmaire, Gilda Gonfier, Marie‑Alice Mouchart and Muriel Urtiaga, announced the selections on 25 July. The winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of the Écritures des Amériques festival in Guadeloupe, scheduled for 21‑28 November 2026, where a public prize named after Maryse Condé will also be awarded.
