Priyank Kharge orders raid on Bengaluru central prison
Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge confirmed he ordered a surprise raid on the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru following the discovery of administrative lapses during a recent visit. The operation, conducted with the permission of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, involved a team of over 100 officers from the Central Crime Branch (CCB).
The raid follows reports that former MP Prajwal Revanna, who is currently incarcerated, was found in possession of a smartphone and a pen drive, violating prison regulations. Kharge stated that orders have been issued to immediately suspend officials found to be complicit in these rule violations.
The Minister emphasized that this crackdown is not limited to the Bengaluru facility and warned that similar inspections and strict measures will be implemented across all prisons in the state to ensure compliance with security and administrative protocols.
