Priyank Kharge rejects BJP resignation demands amid KPSC scam allegations
Political tensions in Karnataka have escalated following allegations of irregularities in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). Home Minister Priyank Kharge has rejected demands from the BJP for his resignation, instead challenging the party to answer questions regarding their alleged silence on specific individuals, such as Basavaraj Kannale and Shivashankarappa Sahukar, in connection to the KPSC matter.
Kharge questioned why BJP leaders maintain close ties with individuals implicated in the scandal while simultaneously demanding his departure. He further questioned the extent of influence or financial involvement regarding the appointment of KPSC members and chairpersons.
Chief Minister DK Shivakumar responded to the opposition's pressure by stating that the government possesses a ‘secret reserve’ of documents detailing irregularities that occurred during the previous administration. He dismissed the BJP's demands as baseless, asserting that the government will provide a documented response once the CID investigation is complete. Shivakumar emphasized that the administration's priority remains transparency in recruitment and the welfare of farmers.
