Priyank Kharge rejects CBI probe into Siddaramaiah sting operation
Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge has rejected demands for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into a controversial sting operation involving former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The refusal comes in response to calls from Union Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy.
Kharge stated that the state police are capable of handling the investigation and questioned the necessity of central agencies, noting that the state would have to provide personnel to the CBI regardless. He characterized the sting operation as a systematic conspiracy intended to damage Siddaramaiah’s reputation. Kharge also criticized Kumaraswamy’s rhetoric, advising him to speak more responsibly given his position as a Union Minister.
Siddaramaiah has filed an official complaint regarding the release of videos on social media, which he claims are part of a plot against his character. The Cyber Crime Police of the Central Crime Branch have registered a case. Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister N. Chaluvarayaswamy indicated that the matter might be discussed in an upcoming cabinet meeting to determine further government action.
