Priyanka, 28‑year‑old medical student, declared brain‑dead after drunk SUV hit her in Rajamahendravaram
A 28‑year‑old postgraduate medical student, identified as Priyanka, was riding pillion on a scooter outside a mall in Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh, when an SUV driven by a drunken youth struck the two‑wheeler from behind and ran over her. She suffered severe head injuries, was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to Hyderabad, where doctors declared her brain‑dead.
Police arrested two engineering‑college students, Suravarapu Daswant (driver) and Andrew Joseph Edwards, for driving under the influence and causing the fatal collision. Deputy Commissioner of Police A. Subhash confirmed the arrests and registered a case against the suspects, as well as a separate case for their alleged misconduct toward mall staff.
