Priyanka Gandhi criticizes Indian government over Delhi protests
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has criticized the central government, alleging that India is no longer a democratic nation under the ‘Modi-Shah dictatorship.’ Her comments follow significant police action in Delhi aimed at preventing Gen Z protesters from demonstrating at Jantar Mantar.
According to reports, Delhi Police restricted access to the capital by using barricades, suspending rail and metro services, and shutting down internet services. Approximately 3,500 people were detained, including prominent political leaders such as Mamata Banerjee, Pinarayi Vijayan, and Arvind Kejriwal, as well as a large number of students and young people.
Priyanka Gandhi accused the government of violating constitutional rights by using force against protesters and illegally detaining members of Parliament. She suggested these actions indicate a fear of accountability regarding election integrity.
