Priyanka Gandhi Visits Landslide‑Hit Meppadi Site in Kerala's Wayanad

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made her first on‑site visit to the Meppadi landslide area in Wayanad district, Kerala, on 25 July. The landslide, which occurred on 7 July at the Anakkampoyil‑Meppadi tunnel project, killed eight people and left several injured. During the visit she inspected the damaged tunnel construction site, met families of the deceased, spoke with survivors, and visited injured workers receiving treatment at WIMS Hospital.

Gandhi announced that the government would provide "every necessary help" to those affected and praised the volunteers and rescue teams, noting that "they did not ask where the victims came from or what religion they follow – they just helped fellow humans." The trip followed earlier criticism that she had not been present during the immediate rescue operations.
