Prizren court detains man suspected of murdering wife

An 81-year-old man, identified as B.D., has been ordered into 30 days of pre-trial detention by the Basic Court of Prizren following the suspected aggravated murder of his 80-year-old wife, L.D.

According to the Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, the incident occurred just after midnight on August 26. Following a verbal argument at their family home, the suspect allegedly physically attacked the victim by repeatedly striking her head against the ground. The victim died at the scene from multiple severe injuries. Investigators state that the suspect attempted to clean the crime scene to conceal evidence before notifying family members of the death.

Acting Kosovo President Albulena Haxhiu commented on the incident, calling for swift investigations and harsher punishments, noting that this is the second potential femicide reported in Kosovo within a single week.
