Prüm: 25-year-old indicted for shooting police officers
The Public Prosecutor's Office in Trier has indicted a 25-year-old man for attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm following a violent incident in Prüm.
According to the indictment, the incident occurred in April during a police check in the Kurpark. The suspect allegedly struggled with an officer, managed to pull the officer's service weapon from its holster, and fired until the magazine was empty. One officer sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh requiring surgery, while another officer suffered a blast trauma from the initial shots.
The suspect, who was reportedly acting aggressively at a medical practice prior to the encounter, fled into a nearby forest before being apprehended. He is currently being held in a closed forensic psychiatric facility.
