PRM faces delays in holding elective assemblies across 31 demarcations

The Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) faces internal pressure regarding the completion of its leadership selection process. Currently, 31 demarcations, including Santo Domingo Este, Los Alcarrizos, and Navarrete, have yet to hold elective assemblies to define local authorities and select members for the Executive Directorate.

Despite statutory changes to increase the Executive Directorate to 70 members, a formal calendar for these pending assemblies has not been announced, even after nearly three months. PRM Secretary General Juan Garrigó previously indicated that the leadership was discussing the convocatoria, but no official dates have been set.

In Las Terrenas, municipal pre-candidate Agustín Tavárez has called for a party convention to select candidates for the Mayoralty. Tavárez urged party members to remain calm and follow internal mechanisms to ensure the participation of the grassroots membership in the selection process.
