Prêmio Engenho de Comunicação announced for 2026 in Brasília

Journalist and entrepreneur Kátia Cubel has announced the 22nd edition of the Prêmio Engenho de Comunicação. The ceremony is scheduled for November 10, 2026, at the Centro Cultural of the Tribunal de Contas da União (TCU) in Brasília.

The award recognizes journalists, media outlets, and specific works that demonstrate high-quality news production originating from Brazil's capital. The event is expected to host approximately 500 guests. Cubel noted that the initiative aims to value the press, highlighting that more than 90% of headlines regarding Brazil stem from facts occurring in Brasília.

Winners are selected by an independent judging commission composed of seven personalities from the Federal District. The award focuses on pillars such as press freedom, ethics, transparency, citizenship, and democracy, while also addressing modern challenges in digital information distribution.
