Prêmio Grande Otelo 2026: Manas and O Agente Secreto share Best Film award

The 25th edition of Brazil’s premier film award, the Prêmio Grande Otelo, was held on 4 August 2026 at the Theatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro. For the first time the Best Long‑Feature Fiction prize was split between Marianna Brennand’s Manas and Kleber Mendonça Filho’s O Agente Secreto, reflecting an unprecedented tie.

Manas walked away with five trophies, including Best Direction, Best Original Script, Best Editing and Best Supporting Actress for Dira Paes. O Agente Secreto earned four awards, among them Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects and Best Cinematography. The biopic Homem com H, about singer Ney Matogrosso, was the most‑awarded film of the night with six trophies.

Antonia Pellegrino, president of EBC and one of the writers of Manas, received the award for Best Original Script. The ceremony highlighted the growing international recognition of Brazilian cinema and the strong presence of women in the industry.
