Prêmio Jabuti Acadêmico honors Brazilian scientific works in São Paulo

The Câmara Brasileira do Livro (CBL) held the 3rd edition of the Prêmio Jabuti Acadêmico at the Teatro Sérgio Cardoso in São Paulo. Launched to increase the visibility of technical, scientific, and academic works, the award features 27 categories divided into Science and Culture and Special Prizes.

Key winners include Thiago Benucci for Anthropology, Sociology, Demography, Political Science, and International Relations, and Fillipi Nascimento and Michael França for Economics. In the field of Architecture, Urbanism, Design, and Regional Planning, Renato Leão Rego was recognized for ‘A beleza da arquitetura contemporânea’. Other notable winners include Juliana Dal Piva in Communication and Information, and Reginaldo Prandi in Religious Sciences and Theology.

The ceremony honored physicist José Goldemberg as the Academic Personality of the edition. Additionally, Mary Del Priore’s ‘História das Mulheres no Brasil’ was recognized as the ‘Livro Acadêmico Clássico 2026’. The awards highlight research addressing contemporary issues such as the climate crisis, social inequality, and ancestral knowledge.
