Prêmio Jabuti announces semifinalists for 68th edition

The Câmara Brasileira do Livro (CBL) has announced the semifinalists for the 68th edition of the Prêmio Jabuti, Brazil’s most traditional literary award. Out of 4,675 entries, ten names have been selected for each of the 23 categories across four main axes: Literature, Non-Fiction, Editorial Production, and Innovation.

Notable semifinalists include Itamar Vieira Junior for ‘Coração sem Medo’, Milton Hatoum for ‘Dança de Enganos’, and Monique Malcher for ‘Flor de Gume’ in the category for Brazilian books published abroad. The awards also feature a new category, ‘Incentivo à Leitura – Cultura Digital’, which allows for public voting on digital content creators who promote reading. This voting period runs until October 9.

The final five nominees for each category will be announced on October 14, with the winners to be revealed during a ceremony on October 27 at Sala São Paulo. The Book of the Year winner will receive R$ 70,000 and the opportunity to attend a major international book fair in 2027.
