Prêmio Sesc de Literatura announces 2026 winners amid record entries

The 23rd edition of the Prêmio Sesc de Literatura has announced its winners, marking a historic milestone with a record 2,969 submissions. The competition, which aims to discover new names in Brazilian literature, received 1,203 poetry works, 960 novels, and 806 short story collections.

The winners in their respective categories are:

• Romance: Mariana do Nascimento Ramos for ‘A vontade das coisas mortas’. • Short Story: Anacã Agra for ‘A replicação do sangue’. • Poetry: Guilherme de Miranda Ramos for ‘Geografia do desconforto’.

Winners receive a cash prize of R$ 30,000 and their works will be published by Editora Senac Rio. The award is specifically designed for authors who have not previously published works in their competing category.
