Průmyslový palác reopens after 3 billion CZK reconstruction

The Průmyslový palác (Industrial Palace) at the Prague Exhibition Grounds is reopening to the public following an extensive reconstruction costing over three billion CZK. The project included the reconstruction of the historic structure and the completion of the left wing, which was destroyed by a fire in October 2008.

From September 25 to October 11, guided tours focusing on the history and architecture of the monument will be available. These tours are organized by Výstaviště Praha and Prague City Tourism. Following these special tours, the palace will not be open for general public access but will instead serve its original purpose of hosting exhibitions, trade fairs, and cultural events. The first major event scheduled after the reopening is the Designblok festival in early October.

Designed by architect Bedřich Munzberger for the Jubilee Exhibition in 1891, the palace is a significant technical and artistic monument, notable for being the first building in the Czech lands to utilize a prefabricated iron construction. In the 1950s, the building's function was changed to a social and dance hall under the name Sjezdový palác.
