Průmyslový palác reopens after 3 billion CZK reconstruction

The Průmyslový palác (Industrial Palace) in Prague has reopened following a comprehensive reconstruction costing approximately three billion CZK. The project, managed by Výstaviště Praha, aimed to restore the landmark after a significant fire in 2008 destroyed the left wing of the building.

The renovation included the construction of a new left wing with a steel structure designed to match the proportions of the historical right wing, as well as the restoration of the central hall. Key architectural features have been returned to the building, such as the St. Wenceslas crown in the central hall, which had been replaced by a red star in 1949. The restoration also involved complex work on the 2,737-square-meter painted wooden ceiling.

While tickets for interior tours are already sold out, the venue is offering free outdoor programs, including multimedia art projects and exhibitions. The palace is scheduled to host various events, including the DesignBlok festival starting in early October.
