Pärnu Bay faces rising sea levels and storm warnings

The Estonian Environmental Agency has issued warnings regarding a significant rise in sea levels and strong winds due to a low-pressure area moving from the Swedish coast across the Baltic Sea toward Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

In Pärnu Bay, water levels are expected to rise by over 100 centimeters, potentially exceeding 150 centimeters by the night of October 10. While this remains below the critical threshold of 180 centimeters, residents are advised to remain cautious following recent flooding in the area.

Wind gusts in the southern Baltic Sea could exceed 30 m/s. In Estonia, gusts on the Saaremaa coast and in the Gulf of Riga may reach up to 22 m/s. The storm is also expected to impact ferry traffic, which may cause disruptions for participants in the Saaremaa rally.
