Pärnu flood relief: Rescue Board continues water pumping operations

The Estonian Rescue Board is conducting extensive water pumping operations to combat flooding in the Pärnu region. Key areas under management include the Rääma Oja district in Pärnu, the vicinity of Sinioja in Paikuse, and the Pärnu highway in Sindi. Efforts have recently expanded to include the Tammiste residential area.

Emergency crews have been working in shifts for over 24 hours, utilizing 45 different machines and installing more than four kilometers of hose lines. While water levels in the targeted areas have begun to decrease, officials estimate that pumping operations will need to continue for at least another 24 to 36 hours.

To support the local response, additional rescue teams and technical units have been deployed from across Estonia, including personnel from Tallinn, Rakvere, Valga, Elva, Iisaku, and Muuga. The Rescue Association's technical rescue unit is also involved in the operations.
