Consumer protection agencies launch inspections in Honduras and Dominican Republic
Authorities in Honduras and the Dominican Republic have initiated enforcement actions to protect consumer rights. In Honduras, the Secretariat of Economic Development has launched inspection operations to prevent fraudulent Black Friday promotions. Minister Eddy Ordoñez stated that officials are documenting current prices to ensure that advertised discounts are legitimate and to prevent businesses from artificially inflating prices shortly before the sale event.
In the Dominican Republic, the National Institute for the Protection of Consumer Rights (Pro Consumidor) has ordered the temporary closure of eight Chinese-owned businesses in the Greater Santo Domingo area, including locations in Pantoja and Los Alarrizos. Director Eddy Alcántara reported that the closures were due to the sale of products lacking required sanitary registrations and the inappropriate display of adult items in areas visible to minors. The investigations will continue under the General Attorney’s Office.
