PRO party seeks greater legislative role in potential alliance with Milei

The PRO party has conditioned a potential electoral alliance with Javier Milei’s La Libertad Avanza for the 2027 elections on increased legislative coordination. Following a meeting at Casa Rosada involving officials such as Chief of Staff Diego Santilli and House President Martín Menem, PRO representatives emphasized that political understanding must involve active participation in parliamentary discussions rather than merely voting on government initiatives.

The party seeks to review and discuss legislative projects, including the 2027 Budget, national sovereignty defense, biofuels, and electoral reform, before they are formally presented to Congress. PRO leaders stated that supporting the government does not imply automatic endorsement of all proposals, expressing a desire to maintain an independent legislative position and contribute their expertise to the decision-making process.

Separately, a national survey by QSocial indicates shifting political preferences in Argentina. The study shows that 28% of respondents favor a reelection of President Milei, while 37% prefer Peronism. Notably, 26% of those surveyed expressed a preference for a third political alternative, a figure that rises to 29% when excluding undecided voters. This demand for new political options is particularly strong among independent voters and women.
