Procergs to complete reconstructed data center in September

Procergs, the state-owned technology company of Rio Grande do Sul, is set to complete the reconstruction of its data center in September following its destruction during the 2024 floods. The new facility will be built seven meters above ground level to mitigate future flood risks.

Luiz Fernando Záchia, president of Procergs, noted that while the company typically funds its own investments, the state government provided R$ 87 million to facilitate this reconstruction. To support its expanding responsibilities, including processing data for the Tax Reform, the company has hired 68 new civil servants, established a new software factory, and created a dedicated directorate.

Záchia emphasized the importance of recognizing state-owned technology companies as strategic assets for government operations, stating that technology is essential for providing digital services to citizens.
