Procida implements local maritime medical and administrative services

A new organizational model for maritime services has been implemented in Procida to streamline medical fitness examinations and administrative renewals for local seafarers. This initiative aims to assist approximately 2,000 resident maritime workers by providing services directly on the island, eliminating the previous requirement to travel to Naples for biennial medical checks.

The system relies on a partnership between the Campania Maritime Directorate, the USMAF-SASN Campania, and local authorities. Under this agreement, authorized doctors will perform health assessments on-site, while the Procida Maritime District Office will manage administrative tasks, including the updating of navigation booklets. This collaboration involves the Municipality of Procida and the Association of Captains of Procida.
