ProCompetencia and Unicaribe partner to integrate competition law into university curricula

The National Commission for the Defense of Competition (ProCompetencia) and the Universidad del Caribe (Unicaribe) have signed a cooperation agreement to integrate competition law into higher education in the Dominican Republic.

Under the agreement, Unicaribe will incorporate competition law into its curricula for Law, Business Administration, and Marketing programs. The partnership also includes the creation of a diploma in competition law and policy, online courses, and internship opportunities for students within ProCompetencia’s technical areas. Additionally, the institutions will collaborate on joint research, conferences, and specialized training for faculty and staff.

During the signing, ProCompetencia President María Elena Vásquez Taveras emphasized the need to update the Dominican legal framework to address challenges posed by artificial intelligence, algorithms, and digital platforms. She noted that strengthening institutional frameworks is essential for the country's goal of doubling its economy by 2036.
